An Open Letter to the Mods of the NEISvoid Discord Server

The following was supposed to be a private message in the mod room of the NEISvoid Discord server that has served as the virtual analog of an involuntary psychiatric hold. In another life, I worked at an inpatient psychiatric facility. My job was to run therapy groups, contact 1:1 with my patients, and occasionally sit CVO (constant visual observation) which is what is commonly referred to as seclusion.

Seclusion, like solitary confinement in prison, is an inherently abusive practice that isolates someone in crisis from the rest of the therapeutic milieu and often discourages all but the most minimal verbal interaction between patient and jailer for the purpose of meeting biological needs like food, water, and a bathroom trip.

But this message can’t be shared privately, because after they timed me out from even the mod room for 24 hours yesterday afternoon, I woke up today from my first “good” sleep (8 hours) since the Ordeal started 72+ hours ago to find I’d been banned for another entire WEEK from even communicating with the mods about the physical harm they have induced in me under the guise of protecting other users from being harmed by me.

This goes out to Raphael, Pat, Riley, and Drew. I do not bear any ill will against anyone else associated with #NEISvoid, including the mods I did not interact with. But these four people abused me. And I am publicly disclosing a lot of sensitive medical information about myself because I feel it is that important to…
