I’m starting to think that the Karen memes should become Caren memes. Because this is a very entitled stance to take.

Record numbers of people are out of work, and I’d venture that many of the people buying up the flour and yeast are trying to make their food budget stretch further by baking for themselves. And those people don’t have the privilege of having an online platform to rant about it.

Hell, I’m out of work, but at least in New York, I’m getting pandemic unemployment assistance even though I’m self-employed and wouldn’t normally qualify for benefits.

I used to bake a lot, but I don’t have the privilege of doing that anymore because I’m disabled and can’t stand for long enough periods of time in the kitchen.

Privilege has many layers to it. I know even with my disabilities I have more privilege than a lot of people during this pandemic. You should do some self-reflection to see how much privilege you have just being able to publish this.
